The power of science means workouts that actually work
3 minute read
Life is full and just getting fuller. Having a healthy body and a happy mind helps bring a stronger, brighter, more balanced you to all the things that life throws your way. But, somehow taking care of yourself often ends up last on your list.
Even when you do try to put yourself first, what should you do exactly? Every month there’s a new fitness trend, and it can be overwhelming to know where to begin.
That's why we've taken the guesswork out of your workout and created a smarter, simpler, do-able path to effective, efficient fitness, available at home and on-demand.
Why MYX works
At MYX, we’ve figured out how to help you stay on track and achieve your holistic fitness goals — simply, affordably, and from the comfort of your own home.
We’ve paired coach-led, science-backed, personalized workouts you can trust with professional-quality equipment you can count on to get results in whatever time you have.
Here’s the science:
If you think you have to exhaust yourself and be drenched in sweat to get a “good” workout, we want you to know that is simply not true.
For lasting results, you need to move your body in a variety of different ways across different heart rate zones — consistently.* That’s why we incorporate three key principles into the MYX System: heart-rate training, cross training, and the positive coaching you need to stay on track.
About heart-rate training
Both MYX and MYX Plus come with a top-of-the-line heart rate monitor that’s easy to use. And, our coaches guide you through your workouts using three simple heart rate zones to help you reach your fitness goals. Exercising in all three zones will ensure that you work out, not just for calorie burn, but also for recovery and healthy, sustainable results.
Your three zones are established based on your initial MYX Assessment, our patented measurement used to assess your unique cardiovascular fitness level.
Once you’ve done your initial assessment, you’re given a MYX MarkTM, our benchmark number used to customize your three heart-rate zones and track your progress over time. Now, with the support and guidance of our coaches, you can maximize efficiency for your body in each and every workout.
Moving your body in a variety of ways is the most effective way to achieve lasting results. So, with MYX, you get an extensive range of on-demand workouts focusing on five core elements: strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and calm.
To deliver that range simply, MYX includes a compact, professional-quality bike used in thousands of gyms globally, and a swiveling touchscreen for easy viewing of workouts — on and off the bike. On the bike, our coaches lead you through your choice of a variety of rides at every level, plus warm ups and cool downs. Off the bike, our coaches guide you through floor workouts (including HIIT, kettlebells, and barre), mindful exercises (including a range of yoga practices and meditations), and recovery sessions. This wide range of workouts allows you to “MYX it up” so that every day is different to keep your body on its toes.
About positive coaching
At MYX, there are no leaderboard jockeys. Our coaches are heart-rate performance specialists in the fields of fitness, health, and dance, so they know just how to help you reach your fitness goals efficiently and safely. And they’re also real people living real lives, just like you. They’re moms, dads, students, performers, and motivators from all over the country.
Each coach uses principles of positive psychology so they can keep you engaged, motivated, and feeling confident about yourself — and make it fun along the way.
Been awhile since you worked out? No time? No problem. Our coaches are here to partner with you, but you pick the workout, the level, and the duration. And no workout is too short. Ten minutes is all you got? That’s fine. Every little bit adds up, in a good way.
